RAFT Artspace presents two shows from Tjungu Palya Art Centre
Jimmy Baker Tribute Show
Jimmy Baker is one of the most important artists from the central and Western Desertregion who sadly passed away in 2010. Jimmy was also known as a senior law man and a highly regarded Ngangkari (traditional healer). This show is a special tribute to Jimmy from his fam18ily members who will celebrate his life as an artist through their own paintings about Tjukurpa, culture and country. The show also features paintings by Mr Baker.
Tjungu Palya Group Show
Featuring work by Nellie Stewart, Tiger Palpatja, Iyawi Wikilyiri, Keith Stevens and others. Tjungu Palya Art Centre is based in Nyapari community, located in the Pitjantjatjara lands of far north-west South Australia.
Artists working with the centre live at Kanpi, Nyapari, Angatja and Watarru. Tjungu Palya means ‘Good Together’ and refers to this collaboration between the homelands. Tjungu Palya promotes cultural integrity and the ethical sales of authentic art.
